Cellulite is made up of fatty tissue deposits under the skin. It gives the skin a dimpled appearance and is most prominent on the thighs and buttocks. There are several theories as to why people get cellulite but there is no definite reason.
Many manufacturers sell products that claim to diminish the appearance of cellulite. Some of these cellulite reduction products works and some dont. Topical products are not the answer to removing cellulite.
Nothing short of a surgical procedure can eliminate the appearance of cellulite. But products and quick fixes aside, the main way to treat cellulite is to lose weight.
The trick is finding a cellulite treatment program that works. There are so many products and treatments that claim to work but they are not capable of ridding the body of cellulite completely.
But, the combination of a nutritious diet and routine exercise seems to be the most effective way to lose weight and lower the amount of fat on your body. The proper diet is very important when combating cellulite.
Your diet should focus less on foods high in fat and sugar, caffeine and sweets and focus more on healthy foods such as lean meats, fruits and vegetables, and of course, eight glasses of water a day.
A diet such as this with plenty of water will remove toxins from your body. By eating healthy, you will shrink your chances of gaining excess fat and weight and increase your energy levels, which will aid you with your exercise routine.
Exercise goes hand-in-hand with diet. Exercising will burn fat and reduce the appearance of cellulite. One great form of exercise that targets some of the biggest problem areas, the thighs and buttocks, is climbing stairs.
Another way to treat the dimpled look is to massage the areas of your body that have cellulite. Massaging the skin will not remove cellulite but it will firm up the skin. Massages can also increase the flow of blood in the body, which can help flush out toxins and excess fluids.
